National Junior Honor Society Essay
I want to be a member of the Heritage Grove Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society because it is a great opportunity to learn new aspects, and share my ideas and interests with my peers. I believe in education and the opportunities it can bring. My family has always pushed me to do my best in and outside of school. I have maintained a 5.0 gpa along with a perfect attendance record. I have also been awarded with the President’s Education Awards Program. I have respect for school and I show my loyalty by putting in a 150% focus everyday. I do my best to keep a good balance between academics and extracurricular activities. Being active socially and physically is just as important to me as education because in order to be successful in life I must be flexible to learn and achieve knowledge in many ways. I am involved in a variety of activities such as dance and soccer. Through these, I have learned the importance of teamwork. Also, I have been recognized …show more content…
I volunteer in my community whenever I get the opportunity. For example, I helped students get to school safely and I helped out around the school. I volunteered at the public library to help younger children. I now see it is hard work to get children focused and help them not make a big mess, but I enjoyed helping them in any way I can. Volunteering at the public library also taught me about patience. Not everything went exactly how I planned it out, but at the end it still worked out. My time at the library also taught me about effort. I was taught to put my best effort from start to finish including the setup and clean-up. I am very proud of who I am today, but I still continue to improve myself in every possible way. I hope I can be apart of this great journey with The National Juniors Honors Society because it will help me in many ways for my future and I want to give back to the Heritage Grove

Upon receiving my letter for invitation to apply for the National Junior Honor Society came feelings of hard work pays off, and a bit of pride. I have worked very hard to maintain an all A average at Friendswood Junior High while taking some PAP classes as well as challenging myself with Latin. Having been told in a conference with a 5th grade teacher that I was not going to be an A student and that my parents and I needed to get used to that fact, sent me on a mission to be the best student I knew that I was capable of being, regardless of what any teacher thought.…

I look exactly like my older sister Michelle. You’d sometimes think we were twins if not for the seven year gap and the one inch height difference. What that seven year separation doesn’t show in our faces, it makes up for in our experiences. The situation worked in my favor; Michelle went through various life stages years ahead of me, allowing her to share her “Now that I look back on it” wisdom with me. Because of this, my sister took it upon herself to guide me through adolescence. I am eternally grateful to have had her to support and care through our tumultuous childhood.…

There are many ways one may contribute to their society. Some people may use their intelligence in order to advance society; some may lead the country to a better future; some may make the world a better place just by being in it; and some may volunteer their time to help others. It is difficult to find one person who possesses and contributes all of these qualities, but I am sure that I do. Because the standards for entrance into the National Honor Society are scholarship, leadership, character, and service, I believe that I am more than qualified for entrance into an organization as prestigious as the National Honor Society. Throughout my years as a Delaware Valley High School student, I believe that I have demonstrated all of these attributes.…

Volunteering not only helps and benefits one’s community but, in a way, it benefits the volunteers themselves. For instance, I believe volunteering makes a person feel worthy, as if they’ve accomplished something because they made someone else’s life better or they made a change in their community somehow. Volunteering also shows that that person is generous, compassionate, and good-hearted, because he/she is kind enough to give up a few hours of their time and put it into their community. It also serves others without expecting to get anything out of their service. I believe that everyone should give back to their community because volunteering will make your community a more comforting and pleasing place to live in.…

Volunteering has affected my life in many ways. It has changed my attitude on life, my goals for the future and I know I would not be here living in Malaysia for one year if I had never began to volunteer. In one of my favorite quotes his holiness the Dalai Lama states that “It is necessary to help others, not only in our prayers, but in our daily lives. If we find we cannot help others, the least we can do is to desist from harming them.” I believe it is necessary to give in order to receive, to make others happy in order for ourselves to be happy. Through volunteering my life has brightened and developed tremendously in only the past 5 years, I hope that in the remaining time of my life I can give as much as possible because I know if I give, I will also receive.…
