Abstract
What makes the One&Only Ocean Club on Paradise Island, Bahamas one of the most successful resorts in the world? What makes The Atlantis Hotels of the Bahamas and Dubai the premier destination for a world of vacationers? Mr. Sol Kerzner’s business philosophy, which is confirmed by his mission statement, marketing mix, SWOT, target segments, and marketing strategies give us the tools to deeper understand this exceptional entrepreneur, Mr. Kerzner’s 45 years of hotel and resort experience enriches the world through Kerzner International’s exceptionally unique resorts situated throughout the world.

Kerzner International Inc. Hotels & Resorts To understand Kerzner International Inc., we need know about Mr. Sol Kerzner, the Founder, Chairman, and first CEO of Kerzner International. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, he took over his parents hotel chain business after college. He expanded their chain first with the Astra Hotel, then the 5-star Beverly Hills hotel and the 450- room Elangeni Hotel in Durban, on the coast of the Indian Ocean. Through a partnership with several well-known South African Breweries he developed 30 luxurious hotels totaling 7,000 rooms ranging from the city of Johannesburg to Cape Town. He filled a the demand for gambling and created The Sun City Resort. This was an oasis in the northern desert of South Africa, with floating pools, man-made lake, golf course, entertainment center, and a forest featuring high suspended bridges. In 1994 Mr. Kerzner acquired Merv Griffin’s (creator of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune) bankrupted resort in the Paradise Island, Bahamas with a $7.5 million renovation renamed it the One&Only Ocean Club in 2002.
