Today my daughter asked me if it was okay if she could go for a walk around the block, I was a little hesitant but I found no harm in it so I said yes. If I would’ve know what happened next my immediate response would’ve been NO. Someone took her; she hasn’t come home since that day. I can’t live myself knowing that I’m the one who allowed her to go, I don’t know where she is or if she’s even alive. You can’t imagine how that feels, you guys lose your phones or wallets and find them in the next couple of days, but I lost my daughter and I don’t know if I’m ever going to find her. Good morning, today I will be talking to you about child abductions. I will be telling you a real life story from three different perspectives, recent statistics about abductions for Canada and the United States, and the three different types of kidnaping.
Hi, my name is Shawn Hornbeck and I am an eleven year old boy from Richwoods, Missouri. I come from a loving home and family. On October 6th 2002 I decided to go for a bike ride, although at the time it seemed like a great idea, that day turned out to be the day my life was changed forever. I was abducted by a strange man I have never seen before, I was terrified. But the weeks after my abduction were even more painful, I was tied to a sofa bed and tape was put on my mouth and was only untied when he got home. A month after he took me, he told me he was going to take me back home, I was over joyed. We got into the car and headed in the direction of my home, but when he made a wrong turn I knew he had never intended on bringing me back. I pleaded for my life and told him I would do anything he wanted if he spared my life. He never killed me and ever since that day I was never tied up. He acted like a great father in public but no one knew what he did to me at home. Four years later he took me into his car and made me watch him abduct another boy named Ben.
