In a world where money is everything, it is important for companies to promote their product as much as possible. A car company might have billboards along the roads with their newest car on, but it has also become important for a car company to promote their products to kids. In an average American family with children, they have 2 cars, and 1.86 children. As said in the text, kids gets more and more influence on the daily shopping, as well on other things and greater decisions, such as what car to buy, or what computer to purchase next. Therefore, car companies have started to promote their products on kids TV channels along with children games and activity on their websites, such as color- and learning games.
“Hummerkids.com offers games and coloring pages to teach children about the joys of owning a colossal sport-utility vehicle.” Hummer has a greatly developed part of their marketing strategy that lead to giving the kids their own site, Hummerkids.com. On different shows on kids TV like Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, some car companies have bought marketing through different shows. My guess is that it mainly would be shows with real actors, as it is easier to make it a part of the show.
Personally, I find this remarkable, as I have not thought that you would promote your products for adults through their kids. I guess that some people might find this unethical, but I do not have a problem with this. If I were ever to have the chance to use this kind of marketing strategy, I would not hesitate to use it, as it seems like such a strong weapon. It might have some disadvantages as well, my guess is that it might end up as a failure, let us say that you have started a company where you sell equipment for gardening, everything goes well and your business starts to grow.
