I observed Mrs. Ball’s 7th grade science class at Helen Tyson Middle School on Thursday November 5, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated with interesting scientific educational material. She had the desks set up in organized rows with two kids per table. This set up allowed for less interaction between the kids because they were so spaced out, which seemed to keep them on task. The dynamics in the classroom were great. She connected well with each student and was interested in what they had to say. She was very in control of the class and the students seemed to respond well to her. Within each toddler classroom, the toddlers are brought down to the ballet room to participate in "FitKids". There were two Caucasian students, seven African-American students, and six Mexican students. Mrs. Brodie was the teacher and Ms. Johnson was the teacher assistant. The classroom was large and there was plenty of space for the children to move about. The classroom structure was very similar to that of the 3-year-old classroom that I observed in my first field observation. There was also a carpet on the floor for circle time and the classroom was divided up into centers as well. The centers were clearly labeled. Some of the centers included reading, art, science, manipulatives, and blocks. As I stated before it was very similar to the 3-year-old classroom set-up. The classroom was filled with print and there were many different aspects of cultural references which included posters in the Spanish language and books that represented the different diversity of all of the students. The classroom was like the 3-year-old classroom amplified. I am thinking that maybe because the school is state funded that it why they do have so many more materials than a regular preschool classroom. The science area even had a telescope in the center. In the Pre-K classroom I have been observing the past couple of weeks, I did Instrument 7.5 which is Visual Indicator and Oral Indicatior and Occurences which is how often Mrs. Valentine does something. Visual Indicators are certain things such as how many times does shes write on the board, uses overhead, points to or holds up a visual picture of something, shows a slide or film, demonstrates with model or equipment and other visual aspects. I decided to do my qualitative paper on “How involved are fathers in interacting with their children” I went to the local mall on a Sunday, knowing that families are more likely to take a trip here on a weekend oppose to weekdays as parents may be at work and children may be home or at school. The setting I choose for this study was the build-a-bear workshop store. Build a bear workshop is very popular toy customization store, located in the local mall. This store is always busy with lots of children and their parents having fun building bears or simply purchasing toys. It was playtime for the one year old boy. There were all sorts of toys. The playroom was very small. There was a huge toy chest full to the top with toys. On the wall there was a body length mirror. Proposals to manage high seas fish stocks are evaluated from a property rights perspective — that any solution must accomplish the exclusion, enforcement and other tasks that a system of property rights achieves. The existing de jure solution, based on regional fishery management organizations (RFMOs), has met with limited success due to sovereignty issues, their voluntary nature and the ability of vessels to register under flags of convenience. Expanding national exclusive economic zones (EEZs) would reduce the number of nations involved in harvesting a given stock. This may ease the common pool problem, but it would face severe difficulties in implementation and would undoubtedly leave areas of the oceans as open access high seas. A proposal to establish high seas fishery management companies (HSFMCs) to ‘unitize’ management of high seas fish stocks would face daunting legal hurdles, as well as the thorny problem of dividing rents among participants. While these three alternatives may well be components of an eventual solution, sovereignty and other legal difficulties likely will limit their success. We propose considering an industry-led approach, based on the exercise of buyer power, in the market for catch in select circumstances. In principle, a single-buyer can control harvests and has an incentive to manage effort to maximize rent. Obvious problems with this approach include noncompetitive pricing, coordinating individual behavior when several buyers are involved and the likely inability to control access to all consumer markets. Nevertheless, this approach may achieve a partial solution despite these limitations and it is being attempted in practice, as examples described in the text…
As I entered the classroom I saw a multicolored children sitting mat with the alphabet around the edge. On the left an e-learning white board was hung on the wall surrounded by blue paper with the days of the week posted on it. On the other side of the mat was a kidney shaped light gray table with five blue chairs around the outside for the children and a white and gray patterned computer type chair with a cushioned seat and backrest for the teacher. Today is my first day at P.S.69 observing a bilingual kindergarten class. The first thing I noticed was there is a lot of colorful charts around the room. There are charts such as learning charts, birthday charts, mathematics charts, calendar charts, and classroom rules chart. The room consists of primary colors such as red paper bulletin board, yellow paper flowers, and a blue carpet. I also noticed that the teacher used the theme elephants for her room and I asked her why is the elephant a recurring theme she simply said, “Because my this year my class loves elephants!” I thought this was such a great idea that the teacher decorated her room with what her student loved. The cooperating teacher, Ms. Bledy, was happy to share her classroom as well as her experiences. She provided a pleasant atmosphere and gave me the opportunity to observe her seventh grade science, mathematics, and social studies classes, and fifth grade reading and English classes, which she also instructed. Mrs. Cash’s 3rd grade classroom is a comfortable and safe environment for all of her 16 students. She has a very successful approach to education. Throughout the short amount of time I spent at Pelican Elementary, I was introduced to sheer creativeness. During my observation time, I was able to grasp the materials she used, the classroom environment, and the outcome of the classroom’s learning experience. Cash’s methods of teaching are primarily centered on teacher-student interaction. Her ability to serve a multitude of unique needs within the same class is no small feat.…
