Equilibrium or balance monitors the position and movement of the whole body. In a strict sense, inner ear is the biological gyroscopes for sense of balance.

* Hair cells in the vestibular membrane or semicircular canals of the inner ear are receptors for balancing. Vestibular sacs which connect the canals with the cochlea are substances that move when the head rotates or tilts. * Head movements stimulates the fore cited receptors that are transmitted to the regions of the brain to support the body position & maintain body balance.

-is the sensory apparatus of the inner ear that helps the body maintain its postural equilibrium.
-the information supplied or furnished is also essential for coordinating the position of the head and the movement of the eyes.
PARTS OF THE VESTIBULAR SYSTEM
The semicircular canals ( loops ), ultricle, saccule
–are collectively called the nonauditory labyrinth or just the labyrinth. The entire labyrinth is filled with a fluid called the endolymph, the same fluid found in the cochlea.
KINESTHETICS
*It deals with the senses that detect bodily position, weight, or movement of the muscles, tendons, and joints.
*Monitors the positions of the various parts of the body.
KINESTHETIC SYSTEM * The kinesthetic system primarily is used to help a person stay balanced and coordinate his or her movements. In other words, it helps us to get information of our body parts and their associated movements. It is very important to us as without it we might not feel our body area, just watching them associated with us. Kinesthetic information comes from receptors in joints, ligaments and muscle fibers. It calculates the rate and direction of movement, and hence conveying the message to the corresponding brain area.
