“The task which the Belgian agents have to accomplish is noble… The aim is to regenerate races whose degradation and misfortune is hard to realize.” Leopold (1897). The primary motive of Imperialism in the Congo was Racism. Though King Leopold II masked himself in public with a humanitarian image, in reality, he was a ruthless leader who believed Racism would help him excel. Leopold repeatedly performed various tasks of racism while trying to take control of the Congo.
