a fist in the air to show their resistance. François-Marie Arouet or better known as, Voltaire would probably be glad that people are showing how they feel. They are not saying how they feel but they are showing it which I think would make him proud because they are not hiding how they feel. They are allowing everyone to know how they feel. Voltaire even said once “I do not agree with a word that you say, but I will defend to the dead your right to say it”. So even if he did not agree with people kneeling he would still defend them for showing how they feel. He believes that everyone should have a voice. Even though they are being quiet about the topic, they are still somewhat voicing it by kneeling. If the football players wouldn't have did something about how they feel they would be going against Voltaire's beliefs about voicing your opinions. Voltaire also spoke out against inequality and injustice. If he saw the way some people are being treated today I believe he would be upset about it as well. He would be upset because he believes that all people should be treated equal no matter what they look like. So if he saw that a person was being treated differently because of their skin color he would definitely do or say something about it. Overall if Voltaire saw how the NFL players are reacting to the police brutality I think he would be glad to see that people are actually taking a stand in what they believe and how they feel about things rather than doing nothing.
