Many of the most universal theories in science are quite simple as opposed to complicated. For example, the cell theory in biology is known to almost all scientists around the world. The genius of it however, is in its simplicity and its ability to be applicable to describe every living organism. It merely consists of three very simple statements that manage to encompass all the discovered life in the world. In addition, when Isaac Newton created his argument for universal gravitation, the actual process for discovering the theory was far from simple, but his end argument is the simplest explanation for his empirical observations. While it is not true to say that Newton’s procedure in creating his argument is invalid as without it, his work would have never been accepted, but only the final results of Newton’s argument is used in real-world application. There is also a principle of Simplicity also known as Occam’s Razor. It states that, “Among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected.” As a result, it can be safely assumed that all things being equal, the simplest solution is the best …show more content…
Take Christianity for instance. A central belief of Christianity is that believing in Jesus will get one to heaven. However, Christianity is not merely about believing in Jesus, and simplifying the religion to that extent arguably diminishes its meaning. In addition, one of the most widely discussed issues in the U.S. Muslim community is the negative image of Islam in American society. The Islamic religion is often simplified into the mere actions of Muslim extremists, and as a result, the people belonging to the religion are portrayed in a both inaccurate and derogatory light. Muslims in the United States experience the impact of defective stereotypes in a myriad of forms including discrimination in employment or housing, harassment from strangers, and even vandalism of mosques and Islamic centers. Furthermore, oversimplifying religion makes it appear illogical to non-theists and more subject to criticism from those that are uninformed. Often times, religious values are described in a simple way that leaves no room for debate For example, many atheists argue that there is no God because there is no proof. However, there is also no evidence against God, and describing religion in such a way conforms it to mere
