Jeff Seung Wan Kim We think of embarrassment as the laughter we endure at our expense, but in reality, embarrassment is the egg from which we hatch.. As was the case when I permed my hair for the first time. I was in grade eight, and let me tell you, it was not a good experience. After I looked at my new hair style, I realized that not everyone looks good with permed hair, and that, only people who have a special face structure can look luxurious with a perm. Me, on the other hand, looked like David Luiz. If you know who he is. We all have moments in our lives, where we feel embarrassed about what we did. For example, perming our hair without thinking, peeing our pants or even trying to speak to someone in broken English. This experience made me realize not to perm my hair very thick and I should have listened to the people around me who told me not to perm it because I would not look like an ordinary man. By the time my friends told me not to perm, I have already made my decision and ignored their advice. Right after school, I stepped out the door of my school, took the 375 bus, and headed out to Guildford to get my hair permed. Here's how my perm went. I opened the door to the barber shop with pride, and I spoke with no hesitation, 'I want a very thick perm please.' I did not know at that time that the barbers looked at me with confusion, that they were thinking I was immature. Without realizing what they were thinking, I sat on the chair ready for the perm to begin. The first ping that told me that this was a bad idea finally came to me when I felt the perm gel on my head. The barber spread the gel all over my hair, making my hair look completely white. However, this was only the beginning of my nightmare. The next thing the barber did was brush some of my hair from my forehead, and put a thin tissue on top of it with a roller, and slowly rolled the roller till my hair was curled tightly. I felt all
