Introduction: To begin my presentation, I will tell you what the story, “Occupation: Conductorette”, is about. This story is about a woman, Maya Angelou, who decided to get a job. She wanted to become a Conductorette because her mother told her that she couldn´t become one, only for being an Afro-American, this made her very angry and she begun fighting for becoming a Conductorette. After a lot of persistence she achieved her goal. During my presentation I will develop four main aspects: Nonfiction, the Author, Her mother´s role and American racism, and these aspects will be directly supporting my thesis statement.
Thesis statement: I believe that Maya´s determination was amplified by the racism and her mother and as she achieved her goal, she wrote this episode of her life in her autobiography.

As my thesis expresses as Maya reached her objective, she wrote this episode of her life in her autobiography, she did this because she wanted to transmit her experience to other generations for them to understand that sometimes we are boosted by a conflict, a person or both and this will help us overcome the conflict. b) Maya Angelou is an American author and poet. Maya is an Afro-American, when she was young, she experienced racial discrimination for her skin color, and because of the racism and many people support she fought against discrimination, this made her a civil rights activist. Maya’s childhood and adolescence was a constant fight against racisms, as a result of this battle racism was diminished, she achieve her goal and as my thesis says she
