When looking at the event that took place in the U.S. shows that much of the opportunity given to U.S. citizens were taken away in the sense that when they did not want to fight in the war, and from this gives insight to how the Vietnam War became to be known as the longest war in U.S. history, until the war in Afghanistan which began (2002-2014). In this war, the U.S. failed to achieve military success and the Republic of South Vietnam, in the end was taken over by North Vietnam, and this experience that happened in Vietnam became to be known as “the only war America ever lost.” This war that took place remains a very controversial topic to this day and continues to affect much of the political and military decisions today.

The U.S. suffered over 47,000 killed soldiers in combat and another 11,000 noncombat deaths; over 150,000 were wounded and 10,000 soldiers were missing and this all happened throughout the course of the war.
