Shakespeare creates a facade when he coats Lady Macbeth with feelings of love and compassion for her husband Macbeth. However, when Lady Macbeth finds out the witches prophesied Macbeth was to become king she immediately thought of ways she could achieve her ambition, committing the sinful act of killing King Duncan was the first to come to mind. The word heaven represents all the good in the world she is wishing anyone with any sought of human kindness sees through her “blanket of the dark”, where all her malevolent secrets take place, to stop her from achieving her immoral goals. Lady Macbeth resents these emotions as she thinks they show signs of weakness in one and a warrior, like Macbeth, shouldn’t have such doubts as it could prove to be fatal. Many people were religious and superstitious in the Elizabethan era, but Lady Macbeth exceeds the boundaries in Act 1 scene 5, Lady Macbeth questions Macbeth’s masculinity, she isn’t sure if there is enough manhood between them two so she asked the spirit to “unsex her” this paranormal phrase is Lady Macbeths way of asking the spirits to not just strip her of her feminine weakness but remove her from all gender completely, to become inhuman. Lady Macbeth’s dream of becoming queen could be filling an empty whole in her life caused by a lack of attention and respect from society. In a way she is forced to act upon being victimized in a villainess
