The imagery was effectively used in the story to help visualize images and help the reader imagine the story Imagery is essential to have in the story otherwise the reader will get bored will not read on.
For example, in the text it was “Alive, the foxes inhabited a world my father made for them. It was surrounded by a high guard fence, like a medieval town, with a gate that was padlocked at night.”(pg 47) In this section of the text imaging, the way cage was holding the foxes is easy since it gave explicit detail. Many forms of imagery such as this were present throughout the story and which helps the reader imagine and visualize scenes despite reading just
text.
The theme was the story was exquisite giving the story its tone and its purpose. In the story, the gender discrimination and identity crisis are the central themes of the story. The girl did not like the chores that an ordinary woman has to do rather she found the job that her father and laird did more amusing. In the text, it says “She was always plotting. She was plotting now to get me to stay in the house more, although she knew I hated it (because she knew I hated it) and keep me from working for my father.” (pg 50). Although she realized that these roles were much more difficult than expected and things didn't turn out the way she expected them to. This theme kept the audience on their feet because of its theme and in which it kept the whole story connected and it was the theme of the story which helped it make exceptional one.
