The two short stories; Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl, and Jury of her Peers by Susan Glaspell have many similarities, and many differences in things like charters,and murder.
In Dahl’s short story a very chipper, pregnant housewife, Mary Maloney waits for her not so knowingly selfish husband to arrive home after a long day at work. On arrival Patrick Maloney is found weirdly silent. Mary then was thrown off balanced when her husband and father of her child confessed he no longer wished to be her husband and wanted a divorce immediately.
Mary was filled with so much anger and rage that she got a frozen lamb leg and smacked patrick over the head with it and killed him. Furthermore, in a very similar short story by Glaspell a elderer …show more content…
Even when he was asking for a divorce he still was very respect towards her saying he will help her financially. In Glaspell's short story the husband John was the complete opposite. He was always super mean and hateful towards Minnie. He even killed her most prized possession, the only thing that got her through her terrible life her bird.
Another way in which the story lacked resemblance is how Mary and Minnie killed their husbands and the reason for killing them. In Dahl’s short story Mary killed Patrick because he wanted a divorce for an unknown reason. Mary killed him by smacking him over the head with a frozen lamb leg when his back was turned away from her. In Glaspell’s short story Minnie killed John because he killed her favorite bird. Minnie killed John by placing a rope around his neck while he was sleeping and strangling him. These reasonings shown how Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl, and Jury of Her Peers by Susan Glaspell resemblance each other and differs each other in things like characters, and
