A Long Walk To Water Whirligig Analysis

Everyone is different. We all know that. Every book is different too. As books travel along the path of their life, people gain new information in their heads about books. They may then use that to write more books. This is the road of literature. A Long Walk to Water written by Linda Sue Park, and Whirligig written by Paul Fleischman, both have similar story lines, but have totally different overall situations. As books travel the road of literature they pick up new aspects of the books that brings them closer together. Most people call these the similarities. In both novels they have a very similar story outline. What I mean by story outline, is that while there is bumpy thing happening in one book, there is in the other. “Most of the time,
Salva was glad to be able to go to school...he had plenty of time to play.”(pg 3 Park). In the beginning of A Long Walk to Water, Salva was living a pretty good life. He was able to go to school, but still had much time at home to play with his siblings. “He returned to his room and flipped on the radio...invited to a party at Chaz’s.”(pg 6 Fleischman). Brent is living a great life to start. He gets to go to parties, he has both parents, and he doesn't have any troubles. But then, things majorly change in both books. “ACK-ACK-ACK-ACK-ACK-ACK! Gunfire!”(pg 5 Park). “He saw that the car was drifting to the left. He felt his hands jerk, but kept them on his thighs. You have the power to end your life. Now.”(pg 18 Fleischman). Major change. A war started and Salva lost everything that he loved. Brent attempted to commit suicide and killed an innocent teen. That is a huge deal. Neither of them would ever be the same again.
