Ender’s Game: Compare/Contrast Essay
“Sometimes it's the smallest decisions that can change your life forever,” Keri Russell, an American actress, once stated. The life-changing decision that Ender Wiggins makes is going from Earth to space. Ender’s Game is about a six-year-old named Ender who has one sibling that cares about him, but the other sibling doesn’t care about him at all and wants to try to kill Ender. Ender is sent to Battle School in space. While he is in space, he is dealing with his enemies, the Buggers. The book, Ender’s Game, is better than the movie.
Ender’s Game is a very interesting story. For example, Ender is picked up by Colonel Graff’s fleet and is taken into space. This is an interesting fact because this is where Ender’s life changes, and he is put into Battle School. This changes his life because he meets new friends, and he was a quiet person back on Earth. In addition, Ender’s brother has a strong hatred for his him, and they always fight. This is an interesting fact because he came out of his shell as a person to meet new launchies that were with him throughout Battle School. Ender’s Game is a book full of surprises.
There are some similarities between the book and the movie. For example, one way the book and movie are the same is that they both take place in the future. This means that
both the book and movie showcase new technology in the world. This gives us the readers a thinking process that we’re going to have new things in life. In addition, another similarity between the book and the movie is that Ender thinks that he is going crazy or having a bad dream about something that takes place in the future time. This causes Furthermore, in the book and the movie, Ender is put into the future after the period of war with the Buggers. After the war, everything was new,more interesting after new technology was put into place and the future was presented. Therefore, the book and the movie of Ender’s Game, have similarities.
Ender’s Game, the book, is better than the movie because there are important differences; the movie leaves out some important details that are in the book. For example, the first detail that is different is that the reader meets Ender as a six-year-old kid in the book, but in the movie, the viewer meets Ender as a early-aged teeneager that is having problems with his older brother, Peter. Having Ender as an early-age teenager weakens the movie because it changed the viewpoint of how the viewer sees Ender as a younger person, and seeing Ender as a younger kid is an important aspect of the in the book. In addition, in the book, Ender kills Stilson the bully, and in the movie Ender doesn’t want to kill Stilson, so he does not kill him. This difference between the book and the movie weakens the movie because it changes the whole story about Ender’s Game in the movie. Furthermore, in the book, Ender attends a public school that causes him to be a quiet individual, and in the movie, he attends a special school that is called “Battle School.” This changes the whole thinking process of the whole book after a person has watched the movie. Therefore, there are important differences between Ender’s Game the book and Ender’s Game the movie.
Though the movie has its good qualities, the book is more interesting, gives more information, and more details than the movie.
The book is superior to the movie because the book has more details and more to go off of to show the reader the real picture of what really happens throughout Ender’s life. Another reason why the book is better and more interesting than the movie is because it is very interesting how the author puts the story into the future, showing new technology and what might happen in the near future. Watching a movie will be intriguing, but reading a book will definitely hide some surprises as the reader gets more depth in the
book.
