Throughout the book and movie their are many similarities that go along like how the germans interrupted the wedding between Schmuel and his bride to take the Jews to the concentration camps. While in the camp everybody was shaved, tattooed, dressed with old jail suits, and given a bowl with many tasks to do at the camp. Another difference between the book and movie is that after the wedding Schmuel is never seen in the camp and does not talk to Hannah as much as he does in the book throughout the camp and does not stay in the same barracks with his family. Finally one last difference that is one of the biggest and most obvious difference is that in the book Schmuel is almost married to Fayge and they do not have a kid as well as their is not Tzipporah or Gitle.
In “The Devil’s Arithmetic” There is a lesson to be learn and something we must all remember. Don’t let it happen again. Don’t let one small group of men starting from one destroy an entire culture or religion and pretend it didn’t happen then go about their business. You don’t know what you have or what you appreciate until you lose it and have to go without
