Compare And Contrast The Devil's Arithmetic
The Devil's Arithmetic~~~~ Compare and Contrast of the movie and book

The Movie and book Devil’s Arithmetic, both stories have things in common and both stories have things that are different. The Journey of Hannah and the Holocaust, is thrilling and terrifying, This book leaves you wanting to know more about the tragic days in the camps. In the movie Hannah is transported back in time just like in the book, to where she lands back in the holocaust. Hannah goes to the camp and meets Rivka, who is her loyal friend who stays by her side until the end. But one difference is that in the beginning of the movie Hannah assembles with Rivka instead of Gitl. Also in the book Hannah gets called Chaya, which means life, while in the movie they still call her Hannah.

Tzipporah and Reuven are not even in the movie, however they play a part in the book. Their father isn’t in the movie either. In both the movie and the book Shmuel and his wife die, but they don't die in the same way, instead of getting shot like in the book, Shmuel gets hanged. Also, another difference is that in the movie Rivka has a mom in which was extinguished, but in the book Rivka explains the number 2 on her arm for her and her brother Wolfe. Rivka did not say anything about

I also noticed in the movie Hannah seems to be older than in the book. Hannah was just turning 13 in the book, while in the movie she looks about 16. In the book Hannah saves a baby by garnering up everyone and running into the midden, but in the movie the baby dies along with its mother, the baby for being born and pronounced, and the mother for having the baby. Also, there is no midden. In the book it doesn’t say anything about Rivka being sick, but in the movie that’s how Hannah trades places with her, when the soldiers hear Rivka

Do you really know what went on during the holocaust well Jane Yolen wrote a special book about how life was like in the concentration camps which later turned into a movie. There are many different things that go on in between the book and the movie like how there is a major age difference and how Rivka ends up being her cousin. That is some but there's also many similarities like how Hanna still tells her stories to keep everybody together and how Hanna still sacrifices herself for Rivka. Well I think that differences or not they still both teach that valuable lesson that one after one the deaths were adding and one after one they were disappearing.…

Another difference between the book and movie is that after the wedding Schmuel is never seen in the camp and does not talk to Hannah as much as he does in the book throughout the camp and does not stay in the same barracks with his family. Finally one last difference that is one of the biggest and most obvious difference is that in the book Schmuel is almost married to Fayge and they do not have a kid as well as their is not Tzipporah or Gitle.…

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself...” This was true in FDR’s time, but not when you are one of the many people the devil has put in his arithmetic. In the book The Devil’s Arithmetic, Jane Yolen, has made a made a wonderfully unbelievable book showing what it was like when if you were in the concentration camps. Although you may not want to recommend this book to a second grader, this is a historical fiction that is almost on the spot with its historical facts. The fact still remains, the horror of it all and how everyone who lived had to go through it all. The Devil’s Arithmetic is a very compelling book and a very gruesome movie, but they both have similarities and differences.…

To say the least, it was not hard to figure why Kristin Hannah’s novel that detailed how two sisters dealt with the Nazis Occupation won so many awards. Hannah crafted a masterpiece from the words spilled on the cream pages. In addition to reliving the events of an occupied frame through the eyes of a young Vianne, the reader also is granted the experience of seeing the world through an aged Vianne. “The Nightingale has sung”(Hannah).…
