Land Ice Lab

We were investigating land and sea ice to see which water holds more or less volume, because we want to see which one is contributing to the ocean levels to rise. We conducted the thermal expansion of water by taking two different vials of water and heating one and leaving one untouched. The melting ice part of the lab was conducted by creating a "continent" in one bowl and another bowl without anything in it. We sat both oceans under a lamp and recorded to rise in water from the melting of the ice. Our results in our groups were: sea ice did not contribute as much of a rise in sea level like land ice did. the warmer water held more volume then the control water. Our claim is that land ice contributes to sea level rise and the warmer the water is, the more volume it has. Some sources of error was at the beginning of experiment one, the hot plate did not heat up fast enough. To improve the lab, you should has turned the hot plate to a higher temperature.
This lab is important because, sea ice keeps the polar regions cool and during the summer instead of the ice reflecting 80% of sunlight it absorbs 90% of sunlight and makes the water warm due to the melting of the
