Lane Frost was born in La Junta, Colorado and moved to Vernal Utah during his early years. Lane spent his teenage years in Lane, Oklahoma. At the age of nine, Lane started riding steers with the help of his father Clyde Frost and Rodeo Legend Freckles Brown. When Lane was in high school he became the National High School Bull Riding champion in 1981 (“Lane Frost”). On January 5, 1985 Lane married Kellie Kyle, a barrel racer from Quanah, Texas (“Lane Frost”).

Lane rode the bull for a hefty 85 point ride that day. When Lane got bucked off, the bull turned around and hit Lane in the side sending one of his horns through his ribs severing one of his main arteries (“Lane Frost”). Before Lane could get out of the arena he died due to excessive internal bleeding. Lane finished 3rd in the event that day (“Lane Frost”). Lane is buried in Hugo, Oklahoma next to his mentor and the guy who made this all possible, Freckles Brown (“Lane Frost”).
Lane’s rodeo career was full of success and happiness and he never complained about getting bucked off, or if the bulls were too tough. If you ever had the pleasure to meet Lane, you would always leave with a smile on your face. Lane was inducted into two hall of fame’s the Cheyenne Frontier Days Hall of Fame and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame (“Lane Frost”). He was also inducted in the Oklahoma Sports Museum.
