That undefeated bull has sent every rider to the hospital, so Tuff knew he was up for a good ride. Tuff was ready to beat this bull and Bodacious was ready to show him that he was not an easy ride. During the ride Tuff said his first jump felt fine. Then Bodacious’ horn hit his face and he ended up getting slammed on the ground and his body went numb. He said he could not close his jaw so he knew it was broken. When he looked up at the audience they were all staring at him with terror in their eyes. Bull makes a joke about Kane's size and his name. As we know Hurry Kane is six foot three and very big. It was known that Kane loved to eat and looked very big. Bull finds that thread and starts to pull on it. Bull picks that characteristics of Kane because back then there was not a lot of tall people and it was rare to see one standing six feet. So, Bull used that moment to make another joke about Kane and confuse him even more. Also, Bull makes fun of Kane's first name. It is Hurry, so Bull connects that with his size and said that he got that name because he always ran to eat. Kane's does not get the joke and gets confused. He starts to explain himself by talking about hurricanes and storms, gets even more puzzled. He did not understand that Bull was just making fun of him and actually knew what Kane was talking about. The narrator then told us that, "they kept it up for two hours, Kane trying to explain his nickname and Bull leading him on," (470). This proves to us that Bull did these things on purpose and wanted to embarrass Kane in front of…

I dream of a world of medicine, where the worst and most incurable issues can be fixed as simply as a paper cut, but I havn't always dreamed of such, it's only recently that I found my "noble purpose" in life. In many ways, my life story parallels that of Walter Anderson, growing up protected somewhat by a mother from an abusive father. Seeing the life stories of people like him make me realize what qualities in myself that I need to emphasize and work on, so, it is my belief that the one thing anyone needs to truly succeed is the power to persevere. So many people quit at things far too soon, stopping when they truly could have pushed on and achieved something great. That is one of the attributes that I believe I share with Walter Anderson,…

The make-believe town of Shermer where many of Hughes’s stories take place symbolizes the era of post-world war II America. Hughes’s forged town of Shermer mimicked the town he grew up in, Northbrook, Illinois. Like Northbrooke, Shermer is similarly located in the suburbs of Chicago. Shermer encompassed different socioeconomic classes, which in turn produced different types of kids. Hughes wanted to create this imaginary place to demonstrate the dichotomy of people and their situations after the World War II era. Thus, Hughes’s Shermerville was an essential part of his films because it created a scenario where kids from all different backgrounds had the opportunity to come together and realize that they weren’t so different after all.…

The day it all changed was the day when I met Otis Shemloh, the Otter of deduction. I bumped into him at a city block, and after the collision, he quickly said “Follow me. We are heading to a scene”, and without question, I followed. I have no logical reason as to why I followed Otis. He was a stranger to me. Maybe it was his enigmatic persona? We walked to his car. Once we settled in his car, I immediately started asking “Where are we going, and why did you tell me to come?” He curtly responded “A scene, and because you are a dog, now silence.” As infuriating as he was, I kept silent because he enthralled me.…

Born April 24, 2000, in Huger South Carolina, Rushell Dickerson is my name. If I were to tell you that I was an actor that could dramatize this letter to keep you engrossed, would you believe me? If I was a preacher I would preach about God and how he ties into the reason for me getting accepted, but I'm not. Could you imagine that anybody is allowed to join this event? Even the young and immature college kids who have been ‘drinking all night’-they’re basically dead meat. You couldn’t possibly succeed running against a bull for the first time, it’s like throwing a 2 year old baby into a pool without floaties. The experienced runners should still be scared though. They are ‘armed’ with rolled up newspapers to stop the angry, charging bulls when in danger, because that is just the ultimate weapon when you’re trying to save your own life! That is just absolutely ridiculous, because your life depends on a newspaper- nothing else.…
