Laptops vs. Desktops
Computers have great importance in today’s society. They allow people to save data in a soft form, and also reduce the bulkiness associated with filing systems. They give people the freedom to multitask, which is, carrying out two or more tasks at the same time. Computers in general save ample amount time. Computers have become a reliable source of communication. Through internet, people from different worlds are able to interact with ease. These are a few of the many roles a computer plays in our ever day life. Computers come in two different forms, laptops and desktops. Though they are both computers, these devices have differences along with their similarities.
Laptops are personal computers that are for mobile use. Unlike desktops, laptops are powered by electricity. With an AC adapter, a type of external power supply, laptops can recharge their battery. Once the laptop battery is charged, they can be used away from an outlet. Though Laptops and desktops both have a display, a keyboard, a pointing device and speakers into a single unit, laptops are lighter and smaller. Laptops are useful in places where desktops cannot be used. For example, a business man manages his e-mails during an hour-long commute by train, or a student doing their homework at the university coffee shop during a break between lectures. Carrying a laptop means having instant access to various information, personal and work files. Due to their portability, laptops are subject to more wear and physical damage than desktops. Desktops have an advantage over laptops because with a desktop you can replace broken parts, whereas with a laptop you cannot.
