Las Meninas was painted in 1656 in the Cuarto del Príncipe in the Royal Alcazar of Madrid, which is the room seen in the work. (Museo del Prado, Antonio Palomino.1724).

Because of this maids, chaperones and bodyguards is that the painting is named Las Meninas. Right behind them, painter Diego Velazquez himself is pictured to the left of the scene, shown working on a large canvas, looking outward past the large canvas supported by an easel. In the back of the canvas, you can notice a mirror that reflects the upper bodies of the King Philip IV and Queen Mariana of Austria the Infanta’s parents who are watching the scene taking place.(A.Palomino.1724).
Despite the many studies that art historians have devoted themselves to finding a meaning to the canvas, the unknowns still pose Las Meninas difficult to answer.
