Lather And Nothing Else Analysis

Have you ever had to make a difficult choice in life. In both stories, “Lather and Nothing Else” by Hernando Tellez and “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost, they had to make a choice. They both tell us that some choices in life are hard to make.The authors explain to us how to make a choice by using point of view, symbolism, and conflict. The authors use point of view in the short story and poem to show how the their themes are similar. The short story “Lather and Nothing Else” the barber has to shave the man that comes in the barber shop, named Torres.“Torres must be sweating just as I am. But he is not afraid”(Tellez). Sence Torres did know that the barber might kill him, he probably was sweating because he was scared not because he was hot. If this short story was in Torres point of view he might be saying when is he going to kill me,
In the story “I could cut his throat, so, switch, switch! He could not even have time to moan, and with his eyes shut he would not even see the shine of the razor or the gleam in my eye”(Tellez). By using conflict the barber has to either kill or let a man that kills live. The barber had to make a difficult choice to be a hero and kill or be a murder and live with knowing you took someone's life. And in the poem “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry i could not travel both”(Frost). The traveler had to make a choice to go the way everybody goes or go the way not a lot of people choose to go. He could not go both so he choses to go on the way not always taken.That is how the author use conflict to show how themes are similar. By using point of view, symbolism, and conflict the authors tell us that in both short story and poem that sometimes you have to make a choice and you can't go back.The barber had to chose to kill torres or to let him go and in the poem the travler had to make a choice to go on a road that most people go on or on a road less taken by
