Nash’s 12 questions was created by ethics consultant Laura Nash and offers 12 questions that can help businesses and organizations identify responsibilities involved in making moral choices. This format would have allowed Goodell to answer the questions and surface ethical concerns that might otherwise remain hidden, identify common moral problems, and clarify gaps between stated values and performance, and explore a variety of alternatives. Goodell as a leader failed to demonstrate accountability, and casted the shadow of irresponsibility. He talks a lot about the ethical values and vision of the NFL which focuses on responsibility, respect, integrity, responsibility for other, and resiliency. However, he doesn’t live up to the rhetoric. Some critics argue that under Goodell leadership, the NFL ignored for years the need to create a stronger and more constructive program to address domestic issues. At the very least, Goodell should have acted ethically and relinquished his disciplinary authority over the League to an independent panel or a respected individual if he didn’t feel that his decision was best.
