My Experience Before and After Learning English English is a very important language. Nowadays, it is recognized as a universal language. Opportunities to travel around the world, to know about other cultures or to get a scholarship to study abroad are some of the advantages of learning English. At first, learning English was difficult to me in high school, but when I began to understand it through ICPNA, I realized English is easy if I relate what I learned with my social environment such as my friends, series, movies, books and so on. So, when I look over my life, I notice a big change from before to after learning English. My first contact with English was in high school, but I consider this phase before learning English because I was not interested in learning English at all. Along my five years studying, I just learn some basics of this language, but I am not able to speak fluently. Besides, in my two first years of university, I was exposed to English through books, magazines or TV that I couldn’t understand with my poor English language. Moreover, I like to listen to English music in my free time, but I couldn’t understand any phrase of these songs, even I couldn’t sing any word. Today, I listen to many rock bands, all in English, and I listen every day, sometimes for over seven hours a day. I am constantly aware of my success with English because I can understand the lyrics of the songs I listen to. And that gives me pleasure and satisfaction for many hours every day. In addition, I had to read many science books in English. Some of them were still not available in Spanish. My knowledge of English allowed me to get in touch with some themes of my career. Without English, I would not have read the books because there are no Spanish translations of them. When I learned English well enough to read science books, I discovered that English is a very important tool for learning science. To conclude, taking a

I asked for help, and people told me to watch English movies. So I did. I watched lots of movies, and I got better. Once I even stumbled on some documentary about space, and that got me hooked into physics all the way until now.…

Throughout my years in High School I enjoyed having core subjects in English and I always remember Mr. Jones who was my English Teacher in 10th and 11th grade. He never spoke a word in Spanish and if you dare ask a question in Spanish he would ask you to pause, think and formulate your question in English. It was a good experience for my classmates who were making an effort to learn the language but at the same time afraid to make mistakes. Mr. Jones said many of you are fluent in English some aren’t that fluent but, one thing is truth: there is always room for improvement. It was motivating to know that we all had to communicate in English during class and for group assignments which allowed collaborative learning.…

Undoubtedly, English is the most important language in the world. Therefore, Proficient in English will have numerous advantages. fortunately, I have realized the importance of learning English and worked hard since I was a child. However, after 10 years of learning English experience I could hardly communicate in English and definitely unable to write an essay, that realy made me frustrating . then, I realized I must make too many mistakes in learning English. it was translating English into Chinese. I just did not feel that learning English is pleasant enough, so i just did it if i had to. At first , every language has its own rules. They usually have different grammar and using of vocabulary, which means learning English by translating it into chinese will lead to an inevitable defeat. For example, I have worked hard on learning a lot of vocabulary by translating them into Chinese. However, those translation processes were hugely disappointing.at that time I failed to express my idea accurately by those translated vocabulary. As a consequence, good grade and improvement seemed untouchable one day I became to reconglize this problem ,desperately and completely stopped translation . one year later, my English was obviously and generally improved. I attribute my success to the stoping of translation. secondly, I am going to talk about reading and writing. They are undoubtedly the key element to learn English comfortably and effectively. Improving English from only doing grammar exercises is usually inferior to reading and writing practice. Only practices can help us to react to the reality. Therefore reading and writing are crucial to our English. For example, I used to study English phrasal verbs for 12 hours before an English exam ,However, i would not read a book in English for 30 minutes every day. The problem is that a huge one-time effort gives you nothing, while small, everyday activities will give you a lot. In conclusion, think in the English way , learning…

At present I’m in my second year at university. I have English classes now as well. The periods pass quite interestingly. The instructor gives us different tasks. Once we derived various words by adding prefixes or suffixes. The point was to do it as fast as possible. We also revise grammar by doing tests, learn texts, tell dialogues and take part in the conference. Surely, I don’t know the language perfectly. My weakest point is audition. It is difficult for me to know by ear what people say as they sometimes speak with fast or with pronounced accent. My another weak point is my laziness to learn new words but I try to fight it. However I have some merits. For example, I know grammar and endeavour to speak correctly and observe intonation. My studies are connected not only with calculating integrals but with writing programmes and reading different scientific articles in English, that’s why I must enlarge my vocabulary further to read books easily. To master the language fluently is what I want in the future.…

When I was young, when I did not know anything, then I was just a poor child. I do not remember very well, but I wasn’t too patient and ordinary when I was young to concentrate on something. I tried to work hard anyway though. Especially studying. I was not interested in studying at elementary school. It was the most boring thing to listen to the lesson contents which one I did not know. Studying with the feelings of elementary students was not my priority. But my favorite subject score was good. I liked art and music since I was a kid. I enjoyed my grades and above all, I could study fun. Therefore, I thought how good it would be to be interested in other subjects that were stressed. It was now that I first pledged to confront English. But…

I thought that English was not important to learn because I had already had language. It was so hard for me to understand. There were so many roles in learning it. It was really complicated. But now I am really interested in learning it. Almost all my time I spend learning English. When I was at junior high school, my English was really poor. I did not know a single word instead of ‘rain’. It was because my English teacher’s favorite word. When he did not attend the class, he always said ‘Sorry, I could not attend the class last week because it was raining cat and dog’. Besides the teacher seldom came, the English subject was really confusing as well. I realized that I should not always rely on my teacher’s explanation but I was an English beginner. Of course I needed much guidance from my teacher. The teacher also needed to pay much attention to his students moreover the stupid student like me.…
