Many people in the U.S. assume that cannabis, is dangerous. Why do so many people find this drug harmful? The downfall in our youth society today gives a very, negative reputation of cannabis. Many people that smoke on a daily, believe that this drug is no more dangerous than smoking an everyday cigarette. People overlook the positive facts of why marijuana should be legal, and the positive effects it has on the human body, but first what is marijuana? Cannabis contains 500 chemicals, and over 100 compounds that relate to THC. THC is the chemical compound found in cannabis responsible for a euphoric high. All the chemicals are found by the leaves, and buds primarily from the female cannabis plant (drugabuse.gov). Cannabis is the most
highly, popular, drug used in the U.S. The benefits of why cannabis should be legalized is endless reasoning. Considering the first reason why marijuana should be legalized, is because of how many drugs are passed today. Such as cocaine, bars, prescribed painkillers, and even heroine. It does not fit in the same category as these destructive drugs. Tobacco has been studied, and is considered more of a “red flag” for a person and their health, along with alcohol. The high benefits marijuana brings medically, are considered enough for legalization in the U.S. These positive attributes help people with suffering, and disease in everyday life. Marijuana is known for building up tolerance, allowing people to relax, and the symptoms of cannabis is very mild to deal with. Cannabis could be used to help the pain of HSV, nausea, cancer, self injuries, and epilepsy. This natural plant can bring everyday Americans, relief. The THC in this plant does cause the users to have a mild high, but in all, legalizing cannabis would help immensely.
