Harvard’s public health study found that out of all college rapes seventy-two percent are when the girl is too intoxicated to do anything about it. It also says that marijuana is not a contributing factor in these cases. As you can see marijuana doesn’t contribute to a lot that alcohol does and it has few side effects. Such as distorted perception, short term memory, coordination loss, thinking is harder and your heart rate goes up. All of which are temporary, although that is just for smoking it. When eating marijuana you get a much longer effect only it takes longer to affect you. During this time it is possible to experience delusions, hallucinations, and disorientation, but I am pretty sure that is the reason people do it. One of the more serious things that smoking marijuana can lead to is lung cancer, nothing has been proven that it is worse than cigarettes but it is a possibility. In order to gain access to medical marijuana most states require that you register first. But to actually acquire it you must have a medical problem that requires it. Such as diseases, including anorexia, vomiting, wasting, appetite loss, cramping, seizures, muscle spasms, or spasticity, when these symptoms are unrelieved by standard treatments or medications doctors are allowed to prescribe you two months supply of medical marijuana. To look at this makes me really wonder why they just don’t hand out marijuana. To prescribe medical marijuana for something as little as appetite loss, cramping, and muscle spasms is pretty ridiculous. I mean who couldn’t fake appetite loss or cramps? And this is just for the state of Washington; every state has different rules so who knows how ridiculous it could get. Marijuana is one of the most commonly used drugs in the world, and is legal in certain parts of the world. Yet the United States complains about it, why? Legalizing marijuana would be a free punch straight at the drug lords, reducing dealers, deaths due to a bad deal, and prisoners.
