The purpose of this study was dissect the attitude of international students for leisure activities and examined the reason why they changed their leisure activities after coming to Australia. A questionnaire was designed collectively and distributed to fifty students from the UWS College. The findings indicated that majority of international students chose to do indoor activities instead of outdoor activities after coming to Australia. In addition, students spent less time doing leisure activities in Australia compared to their home country. Future studies should include a wide sample of international students from different age groups and nationalities.
Introduction
Australia is a popular country which attracts a large number of students from all over the world who desire to acquire a high quality education. For most international students, study has become a heavy burden today so that they should have some leisure activities relaxation. Moreover, leisure activities play a significant role in the life of oversea students. However, most international students have the poor concept of leisure activities. They do not know how to take part in the leisure activities. So many students change their leisure activities after coming to Australia. Thus a research into the change of leisure activities of international students is significant.
Previous research has explored the effects of leisure activities for international students. According to YU et al. (1996), new students who came from china were affected their leisure activities because of psychological, culture barriers and language problems. Moreover, research indicated that most of the international students focused their attention on the main reasons for their travel to the U.S., which were obtaining quality education, improving the outcomes of their study
