China's treasure ships were part of a fleet that was larger than any in history. Zhu Di, leader and prince of the Ming dynasty, wanted the fleet of 317 wooden treasure ships all over 400 feet long. The prince wanted nothing but the best. The silk sails were a traditional red. The ships were used to carry cargo for trade. What amazes me is the boldness of the ships. Red silk sails and painted dragons and phoenixes sounds pretty impressive and coupled with the fact that they were so massive is just astounding. The work these people had to put in day after day makes me love my job. It also makes me realize what kind of people it took to do such work. The mental capacity to and plan out design and construct it perfectly. I think it really shows what a person is capable of. I was not bothered by their pride when they described their ships. They deserved to take pride in their work it is human nature to make it bigger and better…
Throughout his life, Leonardo Da Vinci embodied the expectations of an exemplary Renaissance man, due to his knowledge in many studies. A model Renaissance man was well educated, and “had learned enough to understand good literature, painting, and music” (Wallbank). Da Vinci clearly manifests the qualities of a Renaissance man because he was an excellent artist and studied a diverse array of subjects. He was well studied and it is shown within the 5,000 pages worth of journals, written on his findings. Da Vinci explored a wide variety of sciences, mostly pertaining to nature and humans. It was inferred that Leonardo Da Vinci studied motion, sound, water, plants, meteorology, air, fire, earth and water. His many studies contributes to his image…
Leonardo’s contributions to art during the Renaissance period were just as amazing as his scientific ones. Leonardo da Vinci was a very talented artist; he painted the Mona Lisa, the Last Supper, and many more famous paintings. Because of his understanding of Linear Perspective, integration of light and shadow, and his understanding of anatomy many of his works were famous. Unlike his findings in the field of science he was accepted as a very…

Whenever history is reviewed on Astronomy, great Scientists such as Nicholas Copernicus and Galileo Galilei must be mentioned for their great contribution in the world of Astronomy. Comparing Copernicus with Galileo, we see that Copernicus made great discoveries which Galileo would later use in making his scientific discoveries and proofs. Copernicus is regarded to as the father of Astronomy because of his great contribution towards making the universe understandable to many people. This essay focuses on major accomplishments of Nicholas Copernicus and how Galilei Galileo used them later to become successful scientist explorer.…
He sketched out many different inventions, and overtime people made them come to life. One of those plans he designed led to the creation of one of the most modern form of transportation today, the airplane. The airplane was invented to get people far distances without spending months walking through harsh environments to get places. “He also dissected corpses to see how the body is figured and to better make paintings of people”(Krull 12). “His main source of human bodies were either prisoners or criminals that had been executed or hospitals for the homeless”(Krull 12). “He was so mysterious with his secret autopsies, his scientific experiments, and his desire for privacy”(Krull 12). “Many of his neighbors were likely to have been scared of Leonardo”(Krull 12). Although he was unusual his ways have changed art forever.…
Leonardo da Vinci was a great mathematician whose contributions to the discipline were immense, especially in the field of geometry. Besides being a mathematician, Leonardo da Vinci was a renowned painter, inventor, architect, and a student of scientific concepts (Cremante, Leonardo & Pedretti, 2005). Since Leonardo’s natural genius encompassed several disciplines, he personified the term “Renaissance man.” At present, Leonardo is best acknowledged for his art masterpieces, particularly the “The Last Supper” and “Mona Lisa” that are still among the worlds most renowned and admired (Cremante et al., 2005). In all his works, Leonardo believed that there is a significant connection between art, science…
On page 104 it states that he was “increasing the mobility and rate of fire of weapons”. A third main idea from this story is that he was an incredible inventor. (Leonardo Da Vinci, Chapter 1, section 1 page 10 – by M.W.Brockwell) He made a contribution to many things we see today. His inventions ranged from tanks, helicopters and the first machine guns to paintings, rope ladders and bridges. It is a disappointment that none of his sculptures and architectural projects were never completed fully, and of his hundreds of paintings, only a few were ever completed. Probably the most famous of these paintings, and possibly of all time, is the Mona Lisa, which is still intact today, and has a place in the Louvre, Paris. (Leonardo Da Vinci – Wikipedia – The Free Encyclopaedia. Paragraph…

Da Vinci can be classified as a scientist because he was a brilliant inventor and astronomer. He dissected the human body which was illegal at the time punishable by death. He studied animals and plants too. Leonardo da Vinci had the first concept of the parachute. But it's cloth part was not big enough to catch air, and their was too much wood. It was designed to catch air and slow a fall. He discovered where things were like bones, the brain, muscles, veins, and the heart. He was one of the first people that knew this type of stuff because, as I said before, it was illegal to cut open bodies. But, dissecting bodies made him more knowledgeable in the field of medicine. In Mr. da Vinci's notebook that he carried with him everywhere he went and he wrote backwards to keep people from what they couldn't understand. For example, he wrote the sun does not move backwards because in that time period most of the population thought the sun moved around the Earth. Leonardo's discoveries in science and medicine are still helping the doctors and inventors in our world…
Galileo was an Italian scientist and scholar that made pioneering observations that laid the foundation for modern physics and astronomy. He made a point of saying that you have to do more than just think something is true, you have to do it to prove it. With this being one of his principles he made many contradictions of thee only theories at the time, Artistole’s mostly. With this he made some enemies but also tried to be true to his Catholic beliefs. His, at the time, bizarre experiments and methods of testing theories paved the way for modern science today. This is one of many reasons he is known to so many as the “Father of Modern Science”.…
