The Last Supper was a biblical event, in which Jesus and his disciples gathered for a final dinner together. In the painting, Jesus has just announced that one of them will betray him and the first communion. This painting is the first great painting of the High Renaissance. Interestingly enough, the painting is argued to have used mathematical laws of perspective. He used these laws to focus attention on Jesus’s face. Leonardo wished to paint slowly and be able to look over his work, but that would’ve been impossible with the popular fresco technique. So, he developed a new technique. Unfortunately, shortly after completing the painting it began to flake away. While the painting still exists, it is in very bad condition. He pondered, worked on what he wished to, and kept himself from outside influences that might try to talk him into doing otherwise.
