Leonardo Da Vinci is one of the most well known artist in the Italian renaissance, and has been said to have influenced many artists over the years. Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Tuscany close to the village of Anchiano, Italy to Ser Piero and Caterina a peasant. Growing up he was taught reading, writing and mathematics. From my perspective, but limited familiarity with works of art in general, the Raphael painting is significant in that it is considered a prime example of High Renaissance art and considered Raphael’s masterpiece.
