Subject: Recommendation
Dear Mrs. Wayne,
I was hoping you would be willing and able to write me a letter of recommendation since you are my most credible source. I am a sophomore majoring in Pre-Vet. I took your Biology 101 course in fall of 2012 and finished with an A in the class. I will be applying for a position in a Pre-Vet program at my future university, and the application is due by December 3. After researching numerous programs, I fell in love with the program at Tuskegee University in Alabama. I remember us having a conversation about the program after class one day. You had nothing but good things to say about it since one of your past students was enrolled in the program. So, when it came time to finding the program that would be right for me, I kept Tuskegee at the top of my list. I soon realized that this would be the perfect place for me to grow considering the great staff, courses and environment of the institution.
You were there when I first decided I wanted a career as a veterinarian, and you saw how that goal evolved over the course of a year. If it weren’t for your encouragement, I would probably still be indecisive about my major.
The letter would need to be mailed directly from you to Tuskegee’s Pre-Vet program and must be postmarked no later than February 1. If you are able to write the recommendation, I will send you a stamped and addressed envelope for your convenience and email you a reminder two weeks before it is due. I know you are busy, so I would be very grateful if you were able to write me this recommendation, and I thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I don’t think I expressed my appreciation enough in class, but your motivating words and belief in me as a student has kept this goal alive for me, and for that I can never express my full gratitude.
Sincerely,
