Lieutenant Richard Winters demonstrated many of the leadership competencies during his portrayal during World War II. He led others by always being the example for his Soldiers to look up to. When his troops were in battle, he was always there leading them and controlling the actions that took place. He built trust with his troops by supporting his Soldiers and always standing up for them. He extended his influence beyond his chain of command by taking responsibility for a private that had lost his unit during the jump into Normandy, France on
