June 10 , 1939

Dear Michael Jordan,
I know i haven't replied for a while now but I am really confused and scared of the condition my country is in today, life is not the same as it used to be when our grandparents where children, before your family moved to England. Germany has changed dramatically. The brownshirts (SS troops) are very intimidating and do anything that Hitler orders them to do, they all have guns with them and have been trained in military trainings. These Nuremberg laws are putting the Jews in a very bad position and from 1935 Jews were formally deprived of citizenship. Germans who have converted to Christianity but have Jewish grandparents have been considered Jews Aswell and not allowed. Anyone who fell under the nuremberg law was not allowed to have any sexual relation with pure Germans they are being treated as though there not humans.
The Kristallnacht "night of the broken glass" happened not long ago there was attacks on many parts of the country, men were beaten to death in the streets, tens of thousands were arrested , synagogues was burned and many businesses vandalized everything was in chaos I'm very helpless I can't do anything about all this, the nazi are too powerful. a close friend of mine was captured and beaten to death.
Even the young children are getting brainwashed by Hitlers teachings outside school young people had to belong to youth organizations which taught them loyalty to hitler and trained them in military skills.
There are already 5 set up for youngsters to join. children from just 6 years old would have to joint the pimpfen (the little fellows) , from 12 years of age they join the jungvolk (the young folk) and from 14 the hitler-jugend (hitler youth). By 1938 some 8 million young Germans belongs to the hitler youth.
In schools , textbooks were rewritten to paint a good picture of the nazis, the teaching school changed , history was distorted to celebrate great German victories

    Haffner talks about the youth during the First World War and how they were influenced quite differently than the soldiers that fought in it. The schoolboys saw war in the light of something honorable and glorious.     The Nazis believed that Aryan race was the superior race and Jews were the inferior race. And thus Anti-Semitism started on a large scale. After coming to power on 30 January 1933, the Nazi leadership decided to stage an economic boycott on April 1933 against the Jews of Germany targeting Jewish businesses and professionals. And over the next year the Anti-Jewish propaganda increased on a very large scale day by day. On May 1935 the Jews were forbidden from joining the German Armed Forces. Later on the same year in September the Nuremburg Laws was passed which made the life of the Jews miserable. The Nuremberg Laws were anti-Semitic laws that took away civil rights citizenship from German Jews. They also forbade sex and marriage between Jews and non-Jews. In the years 1935 and 1936 the persecution of Jews increased on a large scale. But during the Berlin Olympics in 1936 Anti-Semitism posters and banners were taken down because Hitler did not want the whole world to know what was going on in Germany at that point of time. In the year 1937 Hitler mentioned his hate towards the Jews in front of the public. And then more Jewish businesses were confiscated and more Jewish professionals were sacked. The year 1938 was the year when the segregation towards the Jews increased on a very high scale.
