#Sisleystrong was a fundraiser for one of my best friends, Morgan Sisley. She had a very rare type of ovarian cancer. When she was in the hospital almost every day, and instead of dreading it, she always had a smile on her face. She knew that smiling would make the others around her become a little less stressed and hang onto the little hope that she can fight this and come out stronger
in the very end. #Sisleystrong was a fundraiser that was sponsored by her sorority. So many people from all around northern Ohio came and supported Morgan and her family at this fundraiser. Faith instead of Fear is what represented Morgan even at the darkest moment of her entire life. The Fundraiser raised over $10,000 for her and her family.
The outcome was not in her favor, however. May 23, 2017 Morgan passed away. It was hard on everyone, including myself. I knew how hard she fought and all I could say to myself for a solid 4 days was why. Why did it have to happen to her? She fought so hard, and I truly thought that she was going to make it through. I started thinking about her and the smile she had on her face everyday in the hospital. How she tried to have faith even though she did not know the outcome. Faith instead of Fear has been with me ever since. I know that I should not dread the bad things in life, instead I should be enjoying every moment because I really do not know when my last day will be.
Having any kind of setback in life really does bring out the best in people. I hold onto faith no matter what. I want to be able to show people that even when I am down I can still try to be happy and look on the bright side. I want the saying “Faith Instead of Fear” to help others like it has helped me. Just knowing that there is any hope at all when getting through a very hard thing is something everyone should grip onto and hold on forever.
