1836. Crockett wrote to help and advise aspiring politicians who wished to be elected into offices, and climb the political ladder.
Crockett insisted that his methods, “if properly attended to, will do your business”. He provided a step by step process for being elected into a political position. He included instances, such as the innkeeper who elected himself colonel, he personally knew of to give credibility to his ideas.
Crockett professed his ideas, if followed, would result in a victory. However, one one might point out there is no possible way for Crockett's plan to be successful every time.

Like Crocket, many people in office do not believe in making promises, but not keeping them.
Many believe “ the constitution of the state is a shackle upon free and liberal legislature.
In my opinion Crockett makes a strong argument and I believe his ideas would result in an appointment to an office even today; however, I do not agree with his methods. I do not believe the constitution is a “mere dead letter”, and I do not believe anyone, in particular politicians, should make promises they have no intention of
keeping.
