Who Was More Important: Lincoln or Darwin He survive tragedy and depression to become America’s greatest president. He had the courage to destroy slavery. But it took a civil war and the lost of 600,000 lives. His beliefs cost him, his life. Without him United States of American would not exist today. Abraham Lincoln American’s model hero. A man who’s courage and brilliance, strategy saved a nation from destruction. For a man who has reach great heights. His early life was poor and brutal. He was born on February 12, 1809 in a one room cabin in Hodgenville, Kentucky. His family were farmers, even though he was taught to work the land. Nothing would make him enjoy it. Tall and awkward and extremely intelligent. He was the first of his family to learn how to read and preference for books over manual labor made him standout as a child. It was in Abraham Lincoln nature to embrace new experiences. And went he was 19 he grab the opportunity to travel 1,200 miles down the Mississippi River. It was a journey that changes his outlook on life forever. He was confronted by slavery. Soon afterward he left home and move to New Salem. His passion for reading grew into his adulthood. By 1837 he study enough to pass the bar exam. He decided to become a lawyer. Also decided to leap into the world of politics. Soon he met a woman who much later die of a disease at the age of 22. These events knock Abraham Lincoln into a deep depression. Lincoln established himself as a talented politician. Later he moved to Springfield capital of Illinois. Lincoln moved on to the national stage becoming a congressman for the district of Illinois. The country was divided into 15 free and 15 still in slavery. In 1858 Lincoln decided to run for United States senate. Lincoln later on loses the for the United Staes senate. By 1860 Lincoln was already being talk about as presidential material. At 52 years old Lincoln was elected as president. Soon after he took on
