Listeria is a germ that can be hard to control, due to ingesting foods that are usually not cooked like meats, cheeses, and vegetables. Also, after someone eats foods that were contaminated with listeria manifestation may take weeks to start showing. It is also able to grow on foods that are refrigerated, because it is a germ. Listeria is also able to camouflage itself causing it to not be noticed in equipment or appliances that are used to prepare food, commonly speaking of grocery stores and processing factories. The taste or color of the food is does not changed when it has been contaminated with listeriosis.
Listeria monocytogenes is resistant to cold, heat, salt, maximum pH, and bile. The ability for the listeriosis bacteria to invade a host cell is by listeria monocytogenes. In this process it is able to clone itself in the cytoplasm of the host cell, then it creates it’s own phagocytosis.
