In the book Tuesdays with Morrie, Mitch and Morrie are the main characters who have learned many life lessons from each other. Mitch, who first met Morrie at Brandeis University as his professor, developed a much closer relationship with Morrie than others. Most teacher-student relationships stay professional at all times, but they often met up for lunch and spoke about their lives. They just meshed well, almost like they were meant to meet each other.
The two had came from completely different backgrounds. Morrie had a significantly worse past compared to Mitch and yet he seems more content with his life throughout the book more than Mitch. Mitch was more of a normal, everyday type of person who had common goals in life like getting married and have a high income job, which he had achieved however, he wasn’t completely satisfied. He was very passionate and attentive which made anyone he’d speak to feel special because he was always focused on the person he was talking to. He didn’t have a wondering mind. Which made him unique from others because he wasn’t brainwashed by society’s culture. With that being said, he valued the things society has taken for granted such as: talking with friends, dancing, listening to music and simply being able to have a stroll down the street and appreciate the beauty the world has to offer us. Morrie appreciated this increasingly more as his body was decaying and unable to move
