Livia’s first marriage was to her cousin Tiberius Claudius Nero, he was a member of the very old Julio-Claudian dynasty which is the family who ruled the Roman Empire. Tiberius sided with the optimates when it came to politics, the Optimates were a firm senatorial majority of Roman Republic which involved with the wealthier classes and the stronger group in the senate. Livia then became the third wife of Julius Caesar Octavianus who was then known as emperor Augustus of Rome after 27BC. They then got married in 38BC and were married for over 50 years which is a long time in Ancient Rome times. 38BCE-Livia, aged 19 marries Octavian three days after giving birth to her second son. In other versions of the story, Livia marries Octavian before giving birth. Octavian also divorced to marry Livia as he had a wife called Scribonia. Scribonia gave birth to his only natural daughter on the day of Livia and Octavians wedding, she was named Julia. Julia lived with Octavian for the rest of her life.
33BCE-Tiberius Claudius Nero (Livia’s first husband) passes away, he gives the guardianship of his two children to Octavian and Livia. This is said to be the beginning of Livia's love for her two sons.
14CE-Augustus (Octavian) passes away, Livia is thought to have murdered him, however some records show her and him having a special moment before he dies recognizing their love.
