Living In Mitch Albom's Tuesdays With Morrie
Morrie’s Way Of Living “Don't cling to things because everything is impermanent” (Albom 103). Morrie has ALS and he is going to die soon and he knows that. He is trying not to cling on to things because he knows the things will not go with him when he dies. Morrie is trying to take the good for the bag and make it worthwhile until he is officially gone. In the memoir Tuesdays with Morrie Morrie teaches people to live life through loving family, showing that money is not important, and saying goodbye to his loved ones. Firstly, Morrie teaches that loving family is important. Morrie’s mother died when he was eight so he had a very hard family life. He wished he would have had a better family experience, but he knows they all loved each other. …show more content…
Morrie loves a great amount of people and he appreciates money but he doesn’t make it his priority. He thinks that loving people is much more important than loving or haning money. Morrie shows this by saying, “Money is not a substitute for tenderness and power is not a substitute for tenderness. I can tell you… neither money nor power will give you the feeling you’re looking for…” (Albom 152). Every person needs tenderness and love everyone does not need money or power. I Believe that one does not need the biggest, shiniest things that everyone else has. But, I do believe that it is important to appreciate having loving people in one's life. Morrie’s lesson on money connects to my life because I understand that money and objects are not as important as love. Morrie says goodbye to his loved one by saying that he loves him or her. He does not want to actually say goodbye because he believes that he will not actually be gone. An example of Morrie’s wise words about saying goodbye, “This is how we say goodbye...love you” (Albom 185). I believe that saying goodbye by telling one that you love him or her is a great way to say goodbye. When one dies he or she will not be fully gone he or she will be there still when one needs the one that is gone. Morrie’s lesson on saying goodbye connects to my life because I do also believe that if someone thinks about the person he or she lost. The person will be there with help for whatever they need.
