One suggestion: Liz may want to consider developing an alternative reading assignment in the event that students or parents object. While it is clearly important to learn about and understand the social conflicts associated with other cultures and environments, assigning Wes Moore taught us that some parents are uncomfortable with allowing their students to explore worlds that exist outside of Centerville’s bubble. I just read another article this morning that discussed how a mother was offended that her child was asked to list the 5 pillars of Islam and excluded her child from the lesson. It’s very unfortunate, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it happens
