the nutrition for the plants to grow, especially in the winter when there is not a lot of sunlight and it gets too cold for the plants. Furthermore, being a locavore is not more beneficial to the environment “a truck with 2,000 apples over 2,000 miles would consume the same amount of fuel per apple as a local farmer who takes a pickup 50 miles to sell 50 apples.”(Source C) It consumes the same amount of fuel per apple but the trucker gets more done in less time.
The farmer would have to take multiple trips to achieve the same amount of apples sold as the trucker. The trucker is more efficient while using the same fuel as the local farmer. Being a locavore may seem more environmentally friendly ,but it is in fact the same as not being a locavore. Overall being a locavore has no big effects on your health or the health of the environment. It is also harder to be a locavore considering that most people live in the city closer to the supermarket and it can also hurt the economy of other
countries.
