Loner Manifesto Being Alone Analysis

Loner Manifesto

To be alone, is being able to learn not only yourself, but to learn to love and appreciate the whole world around you. Like the way when you walk through the forest and the newly fallen leaves smell of fresh rain and the upcoming winter. When you look in the mirror and see that you’re beautiful even with your imperfections of acne and scars. Being alone is okay, it lets you appreciate what’s around and helps you learn to love your imperfetions acnce and scars and the world before you find your love. I saw a video once and great words came from it, “lonerness is okay, it’s okay if nobody believes like you, all experience is unique.” Being able to enjoy the earth you the way you want to is a privilege

Loneliness is a dominant theme in "Of Mice and Men". Most of the characters are lonely and searching for someone who can serve as a companion or just as an audience. In this novel, Steinbeck depicts the essential loneliness of California ranch life in the 1930's. He illustrates how people are driven to find companionship. Throughout the book we are introduced to characters who have no name, this implies they are not important enough to people to call them by their names. Curley's wife is known as Curley's wife because nobody wants anything to do with her. "Why can't I talk to you? I never get to talk to nobody, I get awful lonely." Curley's wife admits she is lonely on a ranch full of men and has nobody to vent to. The Boss is only ever mentioned once throughout the whole book so Steinbeck didn't make him important enough to actually give him a name.…

They try to break the unyielding system of loneliness by planning and talking about buying a small farm. Curley's wife feels lonely, also. In an attempt to keep from being lonely, she visits and talks to the men at the ranch. Candy, an old ranch hand, fears loneliness also. To keep from being lonely, he keeps around his old dog. Solitude was one of the main disciplines Jesus engaged in throughout His ministry (Luke 5:16. NIV) The sole purpose is to commune with God alone and get rid of things in life that cloud your sight and hinder you from hearing God. It is in this place of close communion with God, the soul opens wide to listen and receive . It is achieved by eliminating anything that can distract you from focusing on God including people. Because I am now aware of this discipline of solitude, it has become a prominent discipline in my life.…

Yet in reality, these two words have significant difference and effects on people. Alone defines a physical situation when a single person stays separated from others—a situation where people could see. While loneliness represents a mental situation, an emotion that people feel inside, which people could not see from the surface. People can sense happiness when they have time alone. Introverts enjoy spending alone time; also various activities require spending time alone such as reading, writing, and drawing. Even though introverts enjoy spending time alone, they feel every single emotion just like everyone else does, including loneliness. Personal authenticity can be defined as having a real true and an honest relationship with oneself and others. To have an authentic relationship two people must have a genuine and strong bond with each other. The theory of authenticity is expressed by Sherry Turkle in her argument titled “Alone Together”. In Turkle’s argument she strongly believes that the best kind of relationships are authentic ones. Authentic ones can only be formed with intimate relationships and with people who share the same human experiences. She opposes the use of technology because she believes people use it to avoid taking risk to form authentic relationships with others. Technology allows for people to hide themselves and avoid facing the problems that can come…

How does loneliness affect people’s emotions, actions, and words throughout their daily lives? Loneliness is a feeling in which a person has no one to comfort them and is a deep feeling of isolation, According to Robin Williams, “I used to think that the worst thing in life was to end up all alone… The worst thing in life is ending up with people who make you feel all alone…” (my pillow has this quote on it). Even though Robin Williams is no longer alive, he sent a message that stated something that will last because it is very true; a person could feel lonely without even being alone. That person could be around millions of people and still feel lonely because people isolate other human beings. In Of Mice and Men, Curley’s wife is lonely almost all the time. For this reason, she tries to sneak out and talk to people while also being a little too flirtatious. For example, “I get lonely,” she said. “You can talk to people, but I can’t talk to nobody but Curley” (Steinbeck, 87). This shows that loneliness can cause a person to feel sad and want constant attention from people that the person would…

Implying that there is no hope for existence, the speaker of “Alone with Everybody” embraces existential nihilism with his declaration of impossibility through the use of absolute diction and metaphors epistrophe, and asyndeton. Morosely, the speaker uses absolute diction coupled with the bleak metaphor, “flesh,” to describe the human experience, lamenting that, “nobody finds the one… flesh covers the bone and the flesh searches for more than flesh” (Bukowski). Employing the use of the metaphor, “flesh,” the speaker overly simplifies the human experience and mind, by reminding his audience that people are made of “flesh” and “bone,” but do not find further meaning. It is through this declaration of impossibility that the speaker justifies the…

    The Life Of An Introvert

I woke in my sunken bed, just lying there not keeping track of time. An hour could have left or maybe it was five slow minutes ticking away but I did not care to know. I wake up every morning. What is the accomplishment in that? It’s the middle of May and I will not get up because of this. The weather is too nice, and the people outside are too happy. It would take too much energy (out of the little I have) to go outside and put effort into faking the cheerfulness that they are feeling. I look out of my white, worn down window pane and watch the people feel, hoping that I can feel too just by observing them. However, I am expressionless; emotionless. I peer out with this solitude permanently painted on my pale face.…
