Conjunctivitis is an inflammation or infection in the eye. . This disease is on the conjunctiva, the clear membrane that covers the white part of the eye. Your eye will become swollen and inflamed and very red. In very mild cases it would pass in a few days, but people can have really severe cases that would last a few weeks or even longer, if not treated. There are many treatments that will get rid of conjunctivitis., although, some are more effective then others.
Science has improved the likeliness of having long-term conjunctivitis. There are now many ways to treat it and they help it go away faster. There are three main types of conjunctivitis; Allergic, Bacterial and sexually transmitted, which are mostly caused by everyday activities.
This disease affects many people just by swimming without goggles. If your eye is exposed to something you are allergic to then this can cause Allergic Conjunctivitis. This can make your eye irritated and inflamed. Also if some bacteria or a virus comes in contact in the eye it will cause this disease. It can also be a sexually transmitted disease. There are many solutions to conjunctivitis.
You can use antibiotics, but these do not work as effectively as other treatments. If you use contact lenses then you take them out until all of the symptoms are gone, because this may have caused irritation. The people who do this have to avoid using contact lenses until 24 hours have past. You can use eye drops. They would be bought over the counter at a pharmacy but a doctor can also proscribe them to you. These can help soothe the eyes and help if the eyes are sticky. If people clean away sticky parts using a cotton wool soaked in water then the sticky objects would go away, also you have to clean your hands regularly because your hands can have bacteria and they can be
transferred
Most of the treatments can have many advantages because they do not cost too much. These treatments are mostly home treatments and can be done in the comfort of your own home. But the disadvantages are that the condition is very irritating and at becomes very itchy. Another disadvantage is that the antibiotics are not very affective for curing the disease.
Many people have conjunctivitis each year but there is no known data to how many people. More kids get pink eye then adults, because they are more exposed to viruses and germs. Society has adapted with many different ways. Pink eye is very common so people have come up with ways to help cure this. Many kids have had it when they were younger because they are more vulnerable. Science has proved very helpful in the process of conjunctivitis. Scientists have made many ways to help people feel more comfortable. This has helped people adapt because there are now many children with conjunctivitis.
Over all science has proven to be very successful in the welfare of people, helping with these types of infections. There are many antibiotics people can take and home remedies, which are also very economical because you can do most of them at home. Many people have benefited from the development of the antibiotics because it is a simple and pretty inexpensive treatment. I would know from a personal experience that conjunctivitis is not very comfortable and irritating. Also people can make fun of you if one eye is redder then the other.
