Longboarding originated in Oahu, Hawaii. At the very start of longboarding history many surfers who were avid in their surfing would use the long boards as training when the waves were nonexistent for the day. They would use their body weight and balance to force the board left to right as they would surfing on a wave. Because a long board didn’t actually come onto the market until the 1950’s many people didn’t have any idea of what one was.
