13 Hero’s Journey “The Lorax” The first step of the Hero’s Journey, is when Ted sets out to find a real tree. He does this when the girl he has a crush on, Audrey, tells him that her dream is that she will be able to see a real tree in person. But he sets out when she tells him that she will fall in love with whoever made that wish come true. He starts the journey by asking his grandma where to find a real tree. She then tells him to find the Once-Ler and give him 15 cents, a nail, and a Great Grandfather snail shell, and he will tell him about the trees. Trails that lead the hero to success is that on the road to the Once-Ler there are obstacles on the road like axes and cliffs that he has to pass to get to the Once-Ler’s house. Later, Mr. Ohar takes the steps out that lead to the exit of the city. Ted will eventually find his way past that, but later Mr. Ohar gets his goons to get the boy away from his mission. But after all of these trails Ted achieves his ultimate boon. The ultimate boon is when Ted talks to the Once-Ler and he is told what the Once-Ler had done to make all the trees disappear, the Once-Ler had made a family business making cloth from the trees and cut all of them down. The Once-Ler gave Ted the last tree seed in existence and told him to plant it and tell everyone to save the trees. If Ted were to do this things would return to the way thing were before all of the pollution and smog. Ted tries to go back to his home town and tries to show Audrey the seed and plant it, but Mr. Ohar tries to stop him because if Ted succeeds he will lose his business and will have nothing.
