The conch is one of the symbols from lord of the flies. At the beginning of the book piggy and Ralph spot the conch and decide to use it to call a meeting they use it as a representative of law and order. The conch is very important to the boys because it gives them a sense of control. “ He laid the conch with great care in the grass at his feet”(pg74). Piggy is the fragile, sensitive one but the most intelligent one of the boys. While all the boys in the story are getting ready to go hunt pigs and build homes and gather water, there’s one symbol of advancement which are piggy's glasses.
